I came from a family of 12 where I learned that every thing had to be used and reused. Even though he was disabled my father would do repair work at night and on weekends after his regular job.
He taught me how to weld and do repairs and had a good eye for turning old stuff into useable items. I perfected my welding skills fixing rubbish trucks for about ten years. I went on to work various construction jobs, mostly running heavy equipment and repairing the equipment I ran.
With the death of my father and the breakup of my marriage in 1994 I started a deep spiritual inquiry into my experience of being here in the moment which of course, led me to need to express myself in an artistic way. I started working on stone walls and various landscape projects with winter time being a down time in Boston. I got a small shop and started making all sorts of steel art work.
I first saw an oxygen tank being used as a bell in the garden of a friend.
I started picking up tanks at construction sites and scuba shops, making bells and giving them to friends. People saw them and started requesting custom art work and different sizes. The more I do it the more creative an experience it becomes.
