Ken Schneidereit has excited glass collectors for over 25 years. His glass journey began in 1979 at Shorrock Studios, working with all aspects of creating 10,000 piece stained glass replicas of famous oil paintings. He was then hired as a glass artist at Black & Paterno where he added cold working and lampworking to his skills. He became supervisor of the lampwork division before leaving to start his own studio.
The new studio created one-of-a-kind creations for Chalfonte St. Giles, the premier custom design gallery in San Francisco during the 80's. Schneidereit also participated in juried shows and has exhibited in New York, Kanasawa, Japan and many California exhibits. Figurative sculpture became a focus and commissions from professional sport teams and other unique projects landed Schneidereit pieces in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, a Presidential Library Collection, and in the collections of many celebrities, politicians, corporate dignitaries and collectors.
Throughout Schneidereit's career, he has created fanciful marbles and most recently has encased his lampworking to create fine art marbles and paperweights. He has mastered placing his grand orchids into optically pure glass. A member of the Glass Art Society, Schneidereit promises many new concepts as he explores the interaction between sculpture and fluid glass.
"I love glassworking - but I really love the fire. The flame, the molten glass and the radiant heat. It is creation at its roots. The intense energy and light, the never-ceasing fight against gravity, the ever-changing colors and temperatures - like skating on thin ice! Success or failure. A dance, that when executed with seasoned skill and elegance, pays off in such beauty and only the sparkle reminds us of the fire."
