Michael Godey received his Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of South Florida in 1972. After graduating, Michael furthered his education at the University of Florida where he received his Master of Fine Arts in painting. 

During the 1980s, he completed a series of semi-abstract artwork of palm trees, of which two, "Summer Palm" and "Autumn Palm," are now part of the Florida Collection Room of the Tallahassee Community College Library.

Through hard work and comittment, Michael received a grant and Artist Honorarium. His journey has taken him to the Arts in Medicine Program, where he worked in residence at Shands Teaching Hospital from 1995 – 2003. "I was a Member of “Reflections”, Playback Theater Troupe, which was a improvisational theater to patients and staff".

Michael has also had shows at the Black Box theater, Harm Museum and worked as a Exhibition Coordinator for Arts and Medicine Show, Lake City Community College Art Gallery.

  • -Master Works of New Mexico, Painting - “Ravens and Dogs”, Excellence in Abstraction Award, Hispanic Cultural Center, Expo New Mexico, Albuquerque NM, April 3, 2009

  • -The Depot Kiosk Design contest winner - The Powell Center for Construction and Environment with the City of Gainesville FL, 1999

  • -Suwannee Valley Regional, Mix Media - Judge’s Award, Art Center, Lake City Community College, Lake City, FL. Juried Show, 1988

His art is displayed in Florida at the following locations.

  • -State of Florida Permanent Collection, State Capital, Tallahassee, FL, 2008

  • -The Depot Kiosk Design, funded by The Powell Center for Construction and Environment with the City of Gainesville, 1999

  • -Shands Teaching Hospital, Gainesville Florida, paintings.

  • -College of Nursing, University of Florida, drawings

His work is also held in private collections of noted Floridians.

He has also worked as a graphic artist for various organizations and publications in Florida and New Mexico.
