Jan enjoys painting with a variety of themes arising from travels and experiences from early childhood to the present. Her father was a chaplain in the Air Force, which meant Jan was constantly on the move living in Japan, Germany, and Holland. She started painting at the age of 19, influenced primarily by her mother who was an accomplished painter, and her father who was an artist in his own right; designing and building grandfather clocks.
