During high school he was introduced to a fellow classmate who was an excellent artist. Their Artistic relationship grew and challenged Roosevelt, leading to a refined sense of vision, clarity and improved technique. His unique style has been directly influenced by his artistic nature. Art provided a sanctuary for Roosevelt growing up by distancing him from the local drugs, gangs and violence that surrounded his daily life. After an early marriage failed, he was left homeless for four years.
