Cheryl paints what she sees and feels, creating a painted diary of our great United States, from photographs of her travels. Her photography led her to painting. Cheryl says, "Photos captured the picture at a particular time, and paintings captured the feeling and mood of being there." She has painted scenes throughout the Western states and loves painting the New England area, so rich in color, character and history. Her subject matters include old barns, century old houses with rock foundations, streams and lakes, national parks, snowcapped mountains, horses, Civil War locations, and scenic autumn views. She snaps her own photographs of an area, using them for color, design and composition, and paints the canvas in her studio at home.
